Course Summary

The Level 5 200: Boost your TEFL journey

Kick-start your career and become a TEFL know-it-all with our Level 5 200 Hour Combined TEFL Course. Through blending fundamental online learning with face-to-face classroom-based training, this Course will give you excellent preparation for teaching English abroad. Plus, due to its sought-after Level 5 status, your qualification will be preferred by employers the world over.

Level 5 essentially means that the English Government department, Ofqual, have regulated the Course and ranked it at CELTA and foundation degree level. The majority of TEFL Courses on the market don’t qualify for any level, so a Level 5 certificate from i-to-i will stand you in good stead when it’s time to apply for that all-important first job.

The online portion of this Course covers everything from planning lessons to teaching the nuts and bolts of pronunciation, with extra focus on teaching grammar and adapting lessons for younger learners, to prepare you for anything your TEFL career could throw at you! And remember, you’ll have flexible online access 24/7 so that you can fit your learning in around your lifestyle, however busy it may be.

Combined with this, you’ll have a full weekend of in-class training with one of our experienced, highly qualified tutors. During which, you’ll delve deeper into the key aspects of English teaching like the main TEFL principles, teaching and learning a new language and how to teach grammar – plus, you’ll even get to practice your newfound teaching skills!

FAQs: Answered

  • Q: Why shouldn’t I take the Level 5 180 Hour Online TEFL Course?

We’d always recommend including some in-class TEFL learning if you can attend one of the dates and locations. This is because employers will look favourably on candidates who have some classroom training and we wouldn’t want you to miss out on any TEFL jobs!

  • Q: Do I need to take a Level 5 TEFL Course or is a Level 3 enough?

We offer both Level 5 and Level 3 TEFL Courses and you can use either of these to teach abroad. However, the main difference is that a Level 5 Course is more in-depth and therefore, the qualification is more desirable. This means you’ll have access to better jobs and higher salaries – win!

  • Q: How much grammar do I need to know before taking the Course?

It doesn’t matter if English language wasn’t your favourite subject at school, this Course will teach you everything you need to know about the technical bits of English: grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.

  • Q: Do I need a bachelor’s degree to do TEFL?

Nope! You can teach English abroad in many countries without a bachelor’s degree and you don’t need one to take this Course. A few countries do require a degree for visa purposes but other than that, the world is your oyster!

  • Q: Where can I go and teach?

With a Level 5 qualification, you can TEFL in most non-native English speaking countries and even some native English speaking countries. You'll need to check visa requirements first but the world is your oyster!

  • Q: How long do I get to complete the course?

To complete the 180 hour element of your course, you'll get 180 days.

Your weekend section of the course will be 20 hours in total, spread across 2 days of face-to-face training.

  • Q: How much can I expect to earn?

This is very much dependent on a few factors: which country you teach in, the type of school and your experience level. In a lot countries, TEFL teacher salaries can be higher than the average wage and you should always take into account the cost of living for each country.
