Before arriving in Vietnam, my apprehensions were high, to say the least.
Primarily, I was nervous about trying to understand a culture that would be so unaccustomed to what I was used to, whilst meeting new people, and ultimately, having the responsibility of trying to develop a rapport with young learners who were just as unfamiliar with me, as I was to life in Vietnam.
My worries were soon put to rest momentarily after arriving in Vietnam, with 80 other interns who shared these similar fears living within a mile radius to myself, and have now become some of my best friends that I spend every weekend travelling with!
Alongside this, the teaching has been a fantastic experience. Having my own classes of happy and easily excitable children that greet me so warmly every week when I enter the room is such a warm feeling I can’t quite explain.
In addition to this, witnessing the students that depend on me so highly learn and develop on a weekly basis is magical and gives me a huge sense of pride.
Yes, Hanoi is as crazy as everyone had warned me, but within weeks of being here, I had learned to absolutely love the craziness!
And not only this, but now that I am finally able to confidently cross the busy roads of the city that are so often shared on social media! I definitely feel I have become a part of this craziness.
Is there an age limit to do this.Do you need a degree in teaching. How is the travel organised and lastly, how long does one go to each country for.Are there courses one can do without going on line is weekends in major city in UK.?
Many thanks
Hi Elizabeth, if you head to our Vietnam Supported Job page, you’ll find all of the information here: https://www.i-to-i.com/teaching-internships/tefl-course-internship-vietnam.html. If you choose a combined course, the majority is completed online but there’s also a weekend course you can do across the UK to supplement your training. Thanks!
