Making Adventures Happen since 1994
Our story starts in a bedsit in Leeds,
an unlikely place for adventure some might say…
Almost 25 years ago, our founder touched down back in Yorkshire after a 4-year adventure-of-a-lifetime teaching English in Japan, volunteering in China, driving backpackers in Australia and tutoring in the mountains of Greece (phew!). With her life changed and magical stories created, she wanted to give everyone the chance to teach and travel too.
And so, i-to-i was born (hooray!) and we set about pioneering the first short classroom and online TEFL courses, making TEFL accessible to everyone and changing the way it worked forever! Bigger dreams needed a bigger office, so saying bye to the bedsit, we set up shop above a pizza restaurant in Leeds – an inspired move for those late nights (and early mornings) at the office, we thought.
By 2003, over 50,000 happy i-to-i graduates were living the TEFL dream – from China to South Korea, Taiwan to Tanzania, but we didn’t want to stop there. Seeing our graduates transform into awesome teachers with amazing stories to tell never stops being a brilliant feeling!
