Job Description

Description of role, duties and start dates:

We are looking for a person who has previous teaching experience, is confident teaching the complexities of the English language in groups, and is ready to jump into their role from day one and become an additional member of the school faculty.

Your role and duties:

• Conversation practice. Stimulation of student’s speaking skills.
• Assist in a whole class along with the main teacher to aid dictation, reading, and give presentations explaining about their own country, culture, customs, etc.
• Carry out tasks individually, in pairs or with groups either in the main class or in a designated space within the school.
• Help with any questions from students or teachers about the English language, especially related to pronunciation and forming appropriate sentence structures.
• Assist with the preparation of classes or prepare complementary material/activities - for example; dialogues, quizzes, reading exercises, games, audio-visual activities, presentations, preparing displays, etc. and also help with the preparation (not marking) of oral examinations such as Cambridge (PET), (KET), etc.
• Help in other subjects apart from English (which can be taught in English) such as Science, Art, Sports, Theatre, I.T, etc.
• Explain the culture and traditions of CA’s own country.
• Speaking practice with teachers helping the teachers of the school improve their oral English skills.
• Speaking + reinforcing language structure with teachers helping the teachers of the school improve their oral English skills and if required planning activities that will help them better understand the complexities of the English language for example; reinforcing grammar and vocabulary they've learnt, and to improve the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
• After-school Activities these hours (maximum 2 hours) are usually outside of the normal school timetable for example, before school, break times or after school. The assistant will have the guidance/coordination from a tutor from the school to develop the material for these classes. The CA will be responsible to complete the class activities being autonomous and ensuring that the children reach and achieve the goals set by the school.
• Any other duty required by the school in order to improve the ability of the students/teachers in English.

- Each teacher is enrolled in a free 150 hour TEFL course provided by a Spanish University (advanced courses are offered for anyone who already holds a teaching qualification).

- Be available from 29th September 2017 until the 23rd June 2018 (or if more convenient start in the school at the beginning of October.)

- Be a native English speaker with an EU passport

- No Spanish language skills required!

- No prior criminal convictions.
