Sheffield’s train station is a short 12 minute walk away. You can also catch the Peak Line Bus Service (No. 218) from outside Howard Hotel just by the train station and alight at Furnival Square.
As the hotel is within university grounds, there are several places to get some food. Matilda Street is a good place to explore, as there’s the Fresh Choice Noodlebar, a chicken bar and Brenda’s Fish & Chips just off Matilda Street on Earl Way. Alternatively, some TEFL students prefer bringing a packed lunch as picnicking with coursemates is always a nice activity.
Definitely yourself and an open mind. Pen and paper are also good for note taking. Workbooks and course material is provided by the TEFL tutor, so no need to worry about that. In the short breaks, there will be complimentary tea and coffee. Some students like to bring a water bottle for in-between breaks.
Keep calm and carry on. Being late can happen to any of us. Give the reception of the venue a call and ask them to let your TEFL tutor know. Once you arrive, ask the team at reception to show you where the rest of the group is and then get started becoming a qualified TEFL teacher.
I am very happy with the course. And i-to-i has been helpful.
Thank you, I-TO-I Team! That was a really amazing experience! I had the opportunity to check my knowledge, discover so much new information about teaching, new methodologies, secrets, tips, materials. I can advise this course to everyone, who wants to start teaching! You will be stunned when you find out how practical and handy the TEFL course is! Good luck, everyone! Many thanks, I-TO-I!
The course was great. Seeing and drilling the theory practically taught me a lot. Anny is an amazing teacher and I learned a lot from her. However, I feel that there might be better venues for the price we pay that would at least offer coffee on all the breaks and at least a snack to make the long days a little easier. There are also too many students in a class and students miss out on small corrections that a more one-on-one feeling would create with a smaller group. Over all the course provides value and the long days is worth the time spent. Thanks to all.
Wonderful course with many tips and references for all levels using various teaching methods, techniques and incentives.
It provides a strong foundation to go forwards with in TEFL.
It equipped me with the practical knowledge of what I have to do as an ESL teacher and how to in a simpler way
it was taught in such a way, that it was easy. You could see where you were going, could give yourself daily targets.
Everything. This course is the best, teaches you so much
I really enjoyed doing this course. It was very well set-up and has helped me tremendously on my way to become a good English teacher.
The course is very good and provides access to essential and interesting learning modules, however be prepared to truly commit. I work 60 hours a week and one day hope to move abroad and teach but not right now, because of my work concentration and motivation wasn’t always easy. All I’ll say is make sure you save/print every module where it says “print book” so you’ve always got the unit material to refer to when the course is complete. The practical element I feel should have come in later, it was fantastic but it was so long ago I’ve long forgotten most of it aside from my notes, which were thankfully extensive. There should also be an opportunity to either observe or carry out a lesson yourself and give/receive feedback.
