Head East for an epic adventure in China! With an amazing mix of ancient traditions and futuristic cities, living and teaching in China will be a life-changing experience! You’ll spend up to 4.5 months teaching English to Chinese students in the incredible Guangdong Province in Southern China, where you’ll eat, sleep and live like a local! Only an hour from Hong Kong and surrounded by dazzling cities and delicious dim sum, this region is the perfect base to explore the rest of China in your time off.

Over the 4.5 months, you’ll be earning a good monthly salary, which means that along with free accommodation and weekday meals, you’ll have plenty of spending money left over to explore the place you’ll be calling home. What’s more, on successful completion of your job, you’ll be handed a bonus of 1 month’s salary – the perfect way to fund future travels. But if you’re loving teaching in China (we guarantee you will be!) you’re free to renegotiate your contract with your school when the job comes to an end. The choice is yours!

The beauty of our Supported TEFL Jobs is that everything’s sorted for you – as well as ongoing teaching and personal guidance, our programmes offer social support, as you arrive with a whole group of like-minded teachers doing exactly the same thing as you! Our orientation in Beijing is the perfect place to get to know your fellow TEFLers, and it’s likely you’ll be living with some of them in the accommodation provided. A ready-made TEFL squad!

Day 2 - 3

Your trip begins!

After a good night’s rest, the day will start with a brief introduction, followed by a city tour to get your bearings, before you’re all treated to a delicious welcome meal!

You’ll be with fellow teachers all day, so grab the opportunity to get chatting and make friends – you might make a travel-buddy out of it! The next day you’ll be transported to your accommodation and school - the place you’ll call home for the next few months!

Remember, your 120 hour TEFL qualification included in the package will mean you're totally equipped for the classroom, boosting your confidence and preparing you for the first day at your new school.

Day 4 - 134

Your teaching experience

You’ll be teaching in a school in and around the Guangdong Province of South China. Guangdong’s incredible culture and stunning landscapes often aren’t visited by the average traveler in China, so over your 4.5 months, you’ll get to experience the real China!

Your role will involve working with students aged 3-18 years old. The class sizes here are larger than home, with 40-50 students in each group – but don’t worry, you’ll feel totally prepared with your TEFL training! You’ll typically be teaching a full time schedule of around 20-25 face-to-face hours a week, with the rest of the working day assigned to planning lessons and other teacher duties.

You’ll be earning a good salary of 6,500RMB per month, and with free accommodation and school day meals, you’ll have plenty left over for days off and all the best Chinese food!

Throughout this time, our in-country partners will be on hand to provide 24/7 remote support just in case you need them, so don’t hesitate to call on their insider knowledge!

Day 135

After teaching

4.5 months has flown by and you’ve finished your contract – sad times! But, don’t worry, if you totally fall in love with teaching in China (which you will!) once your contract ends, you’re free to re-negotiate your contract directly with the school. Plus, you’ll get the equivalent of 1 month’s salary as bonus on completion – the perfect start for a future travel fund?

Where could I be going?

Guangzhou

Guangzhou, China’s third largest city, is the capital of the region and the birthplace of Cantonese food (think the best Chinese takeaway ever!). Built on the Pearl River, Guangzhou has a 2,200 year history, mixing ancient traditions with a stunning skyline!

Shenzhen

Another gem in Guangdong’s crown, and one of China’s wealthiest cities, is the buzzing Shenzhen – where you’ll find delicious dim sum, thriving nightlife and towering skyscrapers. What’s more, Shenzhen’s got brilliant transport connections and is an easy day trip from Hong Kong – perfect!
