"My placement has been fantasic. I've really loved working with the children. It's amazing to see how happy they are in spite of the dire circumstances in which they live. life is good. No complaints."

India - Teaching

"I had a wonderful experience teaching english in Jaipur, India, at Subodh school which is part of the Akshar NGO organisation. The local project co-ordinator, Karnika Sunil was extremely well organised and professional and she made the volunteers all feel very welcome. Karnika was also a very generous and hospitable friend who welcomed us into her home. I was very grateful for the incredible support and friendship that Karnika offered. She is an invaluable i-to-i represenative. "

India - Community Development

"I am really enjoying Darjeeling, the kids at school and the orphanage are fantastic for the 1% I give they give you 100% back. Darjeeling is great not like the rest of India it is so relaxed. I can only praise Chittra and Ramien to the highest and my acomodation is wonderful, never thought I would live in a palace. Pussy is a wonderful host and takes care of us like a mum. The other volunteers are great even though I am a lot older than them all. I am having a great time sorry it is so short but have booked other things to do on my travels."
Alison MacCallum, Community work with children in Darjeeling, India

India - Community Development

"Well things have been going really well. I am staying at Makaibari, about 1 and hour hours of a rollercoaster jeep ride from darjeeling. The people are the nicest i have ever encountered. In truth there have been problems in general with the placement, as with all tea estates the primary schools are government run, have very few page, the teachers have no formal training, and dont turn up a lot of the time!! All this said, i am so glad to be there, i am a class 2 teacher, they are great kids and i am really enjoying giving them a grounding in english and introducing basic health practices. All i hope for when i leave next week is that they remember what they have learned and the next set of volunteers look at my efforts and follow the same path."
Claire Driffield, Community work in Rural Darjeeling, India

India - Conservation

"Just going into final Week 6, the animal shelter is brilient the people are really nice, most jobs include cleaning dressing wounds, tick removal, hair cuts and there such nice people. Quite a break from hotel work.Delhi is quite caotic, with the hustle and bustle of vendors honking trafic, and some really nice sights, making the country a place were everything is believable, and you never know what to expect."
Jack Penruddock, Animal rescue work in Delhi, India

India - Meaningful Tour

"Karnika was terrific. She was concerned for our welfare and showed us the sights of Jaipur. Moreover, she was actively involved in teaching in the slums! and cared deeply about the children."
