What our customers say about Argentina

Here are some comments from customers who have already been to Argentina with i-to-i:

ArgentinaBuenos Aires, Argentina - Teaching:

"My in-country coordinator was extremely informative, helpful and friendly. I very much enjoyed my stay in Buenos Aires. The classroom was an inviting atmosphere, but slightly disorganized, which made it hard to assist effectively. This, understandably, changes with each classroom teacher. Overall, I got to learn and experience an amazing new culture and I will definitely continue to look into programs offered by i-to-i."

"I am back now, and had the most amazing time. I am sure there is an evaluation form to complete, which I will do in due course. In the meantime thanks is insufficient but will have to do!"

"Hi Everyone!

Having an AMAZING time! Monday was my first day at El Puma Ecological Park and since then I have done so much!

The monkeys are great! They are like little humans. We play a game where I put stuff in my pockets and they search through them and also lift up my trousers and search my socks. They are ace! One of them was cleaning his water tank with a pine cone today! There are little baby monkeys too and one is particularly crazy and we have fights where we pull each others arms through the bars. They copy me when I stick my tongue out and chatter my teeth! Cute. I go in the enclosure and hold them.

The jaguars are beautiful. So huge. At the moment, Reynaldo the boss is planning huge natural enclosures for them. The Parana River, which separates Posadas (town where I am) and Paraguay, has been redirected to add more space for the animals. I understood all this in Spanish as the guards and Reynaldo don’t really speak English. My Spanish is really coming on, very quickly! It’s great to be able to speak the local language and not be rude and expect people to speak English.

Everything here is REALLY cheap. A decent amount of food shopping is about 2 pounds. The internet cafe is 1 peso an hour which is under 20p!!!Crazy!! Me and Alice, the girl who is living with me and at El Puma, were discussing it with our home stay couple. England is so expensive but I guess the salary and cost of things is equivalent. They are a lovely couple. Laura is 28 and Ischmail is 26. They have matching toothbrushes and mugs, very sweet.

It’s so nice to stay with a young couple as other people are living with one pensioner etc. They have a cute dog called Maka and she loves the tugger toy I have brought her, they haven’t got stuff like this over here. There are tons of stray dogs though so she is a house dog.

Yesterday I took down a fence whilst the alligators eyed me from about 5 foot away! We are altering all of the animal enclosures to improve them.

There are toucans, tortoises, terrapins, alligators, pumas, lots of birds, various wild cats, an ostrich, different breeds of monkey, some quite violent! And various other animals. I love it. I am having the best time ever!

Today I went on the motorbike with one of the guards around the park which covers a lot of land. Reynaldo the boss has a good jeep and then a ridiculously bad one for the park, which has no lights and is covered in mud and the number plate is hanging off. He has to keep it running so he doesn’t have to keep going in the bonnet to restart it!

Buenos Aires was great, staying in the hostel. It was really clean and lots of different nationalities, quite nice to have only a few English people around! I saw a lot of the city in just 2 days.

We are going to tango lessons on Thursday and went to a few bars the other night and chatted to some Argentinean people as best I could. The drinks are cheap and huge!"

"I am absolutely loving it here in Iguazú. I will be very sad when I have to leave in 2 weeks time. The people I am working with are lovely, and even though they do not have time for formal english lessons in the peak season, they are very keen to speak in english and improve. It's great. I love it."

Posadas, Argentina - Community Development:

"Yeah things are going great here. At the moment I´m doing one project in the morning (Santa Cecilia) and one in the afternoon (Hogar de Niñas) as well as taking Spanish classes with my in-country coordinator´s mum, so I´m keeping pretty busy. Still had time to visit the amazing falls though, as well as having a long weekend in Rosario. My homestay are fantastic and I´m eating lots of beef!"

"Hi, everything here in Posadas is going extremely well.  I have been doing my volunteer work for about 2 weeks now and couldn´t ask for more.  The kids are amazing people, and even better soccer players!!My family situation is going well, too.  They are always willing to help and they provide me with all the food I need."
