TEFL Tutor – Melissa Koop
Hi, my name is Melissa. I grew up in a suburb of Chicago and as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to travel and live abroad.
After finishing my BA in Sociology & Anthropology from Carleton College in 1991, I went to Barcelona where I did the RSA CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) and I have been in Spain ever since!
In 1992, I settled in Madrid for 8 years. During my time there I worked for International House and then became a self-employed Business English teacher giving company classes. I also obtained the RSA DELTA (Diploma) and an MA in Applied English Linguistics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Following this I became a trained examiner for the Cambridge Young Learner, KET, PET and First Certificate exams.
At present, I live outside Barcelona with my husband and three sons. I work as an online tutor for i-to-i, am a freelance ELT materials editor and also teach some face-to-face classes at a local private school.
