As well as the familiar roar of the big 5, those who teach English in Africa will discover an even noisier bunch competing for your attention; the children! Many Africans are caught between a traditional way of life which has sustained the population for so long and a modern world which places a large focus on formal education. Teaching English in Africa will help increase the number of opportunities for young Africans as well as allowing you to live and work in the heart of African towns and cities.
Teaching English in Africa is guaranteed to earn you a friendly welcome in a place renowned for its friendly welcomes! Africa is a hugely diverse continent and we work with projects all over the continent to make sure you get to see as much of it as possible. From Kenya to Uganda via Tanzania, Ghana and South Africa the children here are spread as far and wide as the wildlife, but they’re much keener to meet you! When you teach English in Africa you can choose from a variety of different projects with children of varying ages, so the learning experience will definitely be a two way street! Anybody volunteering here will use their teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) qualification to make a significant difference to the people they meet here.
If you’re passionate about teaching English in Africa you may also be interested in the other teaching projects we work with in Asia and South America like these projects in The Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Ecuador and Costa Rica.
