With 5 days of hands-on TEFL teaching experience at the start of your trip you’ll get a taste for what it’s like to teach in Thailand. One of the highlights of your journey will undoubtedly be the elephant village where you’ll get to live alongside and care for these magnificent animals – something to cross off the bucket list! Trekking through beautiful Khao Yai National Park you’ll see first-hand why Thailand is such a hot spot for travellers.

Trip details
Day 1 Arriving in Thailand
Arrive at Bangkok airport between 6am and 10pm for our team to pick you up & transfer you to your hotel. Spend the evening exploring colourful Bangkok.
Day 2 Discover Bangkok
Discover your new home with a guided tour of Bangkok, taking in beautiful temples, bustling streets and raucous markets. In the evening, it’s back to the hotel to celebrate your arrival with a group welcome meal in the evening.
Day 3 - 8 Teaching in Surin
Travel to peaceful Surin over the course of a day, and spend the evening relaxing as tomorrow it's time to teach! You'll get some great hands-on TEFL experience group teaching students aged between 6 and 15 years old in the local community. Finish up your teaching experience with a celebratory meal on the last day.
Day 9 - 14 Elephant village
Now one of the main highlights: your elephant village stay! Live with the welcoming local community and help feed and wash the elephants, with opportunities for more teaching, Thai cookery lessons, kayaking and more.
Day 15 - 18 Khao Yai/Bangkok
Transfer from Surin for an overnight stay in Pak Chong in preparation for the next day's trekking in beautiful Khao Yai National Park. Then, it’s back to Bangkok for a lively night before your overnight coach journey to the beach islands.
Day 19 - 27 Koh Phangan/Koh Tao
Time to let off some steam on the white sand beaches of famous Koh Phangan! Stay in a hotel with your fellow travellers get stuck in with beach parties, snorkelling and extreme sports opportunities. On day 24 you’ll take the ferry to lively Koh Tao, famous for its crystal clear waters and lively nightlife.
Day 28 - 29 Time to say goodbye!
After a final night’s partying in Bangkok, checkout at the hotel is between 11am and 12 noon the next day. It's now time to say goodbye and journey home or to onward travel!

Bangkok
Same-same, but different - You’ll hear this phrase spoken repeatedly during your travels around Bangkok and as one of the most visited cities in the world, Bangkok definitely puts its own unique twist on everyday life. A hotbed of contradiction, exchange a greeting with a Buddhist monk before diving into the social hubbub of Khao San Road.
Surin
Situated in the valley of the Mun River, a tributary of the Mekong, scattered with temples waiting to be explored you’d be forgiven for thinking Surin is just a rural town. However if you’re visiting Surin in November you can’t afford to miss the famous for the Surin Elephant Round-up when the town transforms!
Khao Yai National Park
Thailand’s most popular and beautiful national park is nestled in the Sankamphaeng mountain range, home to a mix of wildlife from the Asian black bear to the Indian elephant. Famous for its waterfalls and with over 50km of hiking trails, kayaking and rafting there’s no shortage of activities for fans of the great outdoors.

Am I eligible?
What you need:
- Be fluent in English
- Be aged 18+
- Be ready for an adventure teaching English abroad
What you don't need:
- Prior teaching experience
- A second language

What will I need to organise?
Before you travel, there are a few things you need to sort. Keep things easy for yourself and don’t leave them ‘til the last minute!
- International Flights: You’ll require return flights to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK).
- Visas: A free 30 day visa can be obtained at the airport on arrival.
- Budget: We recommend budgeting approximately £30/$50 a week for meals that aren’t included.
- Police check: You must carry a clean police check. For the UK you’ll need to pay approximately £25 for a Disclosure Scotland. For all other countries, please consult your local police department (costs may vary).
- Travel insurance: this is really important – don’t forget to sort yours before you travel! Travel insurance can be complicated – so click here for some great advice from our friends at the FCO.
