Sustainable Travel
If you’ve ever visited somewhere that tugged at your heart strings you’ll know the anxiety of wondering what it will be like in a few years time. Sustainable tourism helps preserve places so other travellers can experience them as you did. Voluntourism is a great way to make a positive contribution to the social and environmental problems we see when we travel the world, whilst visiting an array of destinations.
Eco-tourism is a great way to protect some of the world’s fragile ecosystems and i-to-i runs a variety of sustainable conservation projects for those keen to help, including conservation at a nature park in Kilifi, Kenya and ecology conservation in Costa Rica. Social and environmental problems are often linked and one example is in the Tsunami affected region of Sri Lanka where we support projects to help those still suffering in the aftermath. Similarly in Latin America and Africa, poverty and environmental crises have created an urgent need for new houses which we help to build with our worthwhile volunteer building projects.
Meaningful travellers are realising that we owe more to the communities in which we travel than just the money in our pockets. When you volunteer while you travel, you’ll make a lasting contribution to the world.
