Head to Honduras

For an Alternative Summer Break with i-to-i

Looking for an altogether different break this summer? i-to-i, the meaningful travel specialist is offering a string of new volunteer opportunities in Honduras for adventurers looking to really make a difference in one of Latin America’s most beautiful yet poorest countries. Here are a few of Honduras highlights now available:

Coach soccer teams in Honduras

Have you been struck by World Cup fever? i-to-i is offering the unique opportunity to coach soccer teams in La Esperanza. Soccer is huge in Honduras with many children dreaming of making it big. By coaching soccer you will have the opportunity to really contribute something by getting children well on their way to fulfilling their dreams.

Work on an Iguana Station

Why not experience a taste of life at an important conservation facility in a stunning location. The Iguana conservation project is dedicated to protecting and breeding the Utila Iguana, as well as raising the local communities’ awareness of environmental issues.

Manatee conservation in Honduras

Alternatively, protect the endangered Manatee at a magical wildlife refuge on the Caribbean coast. The Manatee numbers have dropped dramatically as agricultural and human settlements have removed or damaged their mangrove and wetland habitat. Working within this important refuge you’ll be surrounded by wildlife including howler monkeys, boa constrictors, jaguars, alligators, plus an amazing 198 species of birds.

Teach English in Coastal Honduras

If teaching is more your thing the i-to-i English teaching project is based in and around the bustling commercial city of Choluteca, close to the Pacific coast. You’ll be helping teach desperately poor children at one of four schools in the area.

Work with underprivileged children in Honduras

Finally, if you still haven’t quite decided, how about a project working with underprivileged children. Based in the beautiful outskirts of Tegucigalpa you will be part of a vital project trying to make a difference to the next generation of young Hondurans. Spend time at the country’s leading informal education facility where vocational skills are taught to deserving youngsters so that they can help lead Honduras to a more positive and prosperous future.
