Motivation
Every student is motivated by something different and this module will help introduce you to some of the most predominant reasons like career advancement and fitting into an English speaking community.
Learn how to generate a questionnaire that will help you assess how each of your students is motivated to learn English. It will also help you to gauge the general needs of both individual students and the class itself.
Teacher Roles
- Motivator – See above
- Controller - The teacher must be in control of the class at all times
- Assessor – Checking work and giving feedback
- Resource – You may be your student’s only source of English teaching and practice
- Coach - Encouraging students to play an active role in classroom activities
- Tutor – Guiding students through the learning process, giving individual attention and helping students to learn more efficiently
- Organiser – Guiding students through class activities and ensuring everyone knows what they’re doing
- Facilitator – Encouraging students to communicate with each other.
- Counsellor – Helping students with their language-learning related problems.
EFL Methodology
Designed to introduce you to a selection of teaching techniques, this section will show you that there is no “right way†to teach and encourages you to develop your own personal teaching style.
Tasks
- 3 mini-tasks (not submitted to tutor)
- 3 written tasks of 50, 75 and 150 words submitted automatically to your tutor and returned to you marked within 24 hours (Monday to Friday)
