Kylie Minogue puts her ‘hand on her heart’ and adopts in Cape Town

The petite Australian singer, who last month finished her Aphrodite Tour in South Africa’s capital, has famously experienced many ups and downs in her personal life. It seems however that the end of her tour in Cape Town marked a new chapter in Kylie’s life as she became the proud adoptive mother… of a 2 day old baby Lion Cub, also named Kylie.

During her time in South Africa, home to the big 5, Kylie paid a visit to a lion park that takes on volunteers from all over the world to help research, breed and aid in the conservation of lions and other members of the animal kingdom. The park specialises in lion breeding, so there are normally a couple of cubs about, which is how Kylie came upon her new baby daughter.

Aspiring volunteers now have the opportunity to have a cuddle with Kylie (the lion cub). With i-to-i Volunteering, the volunteering specialists who are partners of the very same lion cub project near Johannesburg that Kylie Minogue visited, volunteers can head out to South Africa and play a hands on role in caring for these magnificent creatures at the live with lion cubs in South Africa project. They can work in close contact with the lions, caring for the cubs by bottle feeding them and seeing to their every need. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to assist trained staff in the care of the older lions and help to clean and maintain the enclosures as well as helping with the feeding program.

Prices start from £1399 for 2 weeks land only and £410 for each additional week. The trip includes accommodation in chalets within the reserve, all meals, airport pick-up, in-country orientation and 24 hour support.
