i-to-i HITS THE ROAD
Meaningful Travel Camper Van Tour Gets Underway

i-to-i, the meaningful travel specialist, is bringing its message to the masses with a unique tour of the UK.

The campaign, which gets underway at the University of Leeds on 13 November 2006, will see a duo of customised split-screen VW camper vans visit a series of key universities and major cities over the next six months.

As well as informing about the travel opportunities available with i-to-i, the tour will serve to help the many communities which the company works with around the world. By asking people to pass on their unwanted items, it will aim to gather supplies for various projects, including pens and pencils for under-resourced schools and kits for underprivileged sports programmes.

Sites will include Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Nottingham.

As well as the collection, other on-site initiatives will also include giveaways, sponsorship of university events and competitions. The university roadshows will include open day events where people can drop in to hear talks and chat to experts about living and working overseas. An SMS service means that people will be able to text for a brochure too.

The eye-catching vans will also be putting in appearances at a number of exhibitions and travel shows over the coming months, as well as causing a stir driving around city centres.

Dan Bosomworth, Head of Global marketing for i-to-i says: “This is a significant new direction for i-to-i. Our new fleet will allow us to reach more people than ever before, so we decided it would be an ideal opportunity to gather supplies to help our projects overseas as we go. Everyone here is really excited about the vans and we’re queuing up to have a go at driving them! Anyone with a fondness for retro vehicles should keep their eyes peeled, because they could well be coming to a town near you.”

i-to-i is the UK’s leading provider of experiential travel options. It offers a range of 500 programmes in 30 countries, including volunteer projects, courses in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL), paid teaching programmes, meaningful tours and ‘life skills’ trips.
