GET KO’D IN KOH TAO
i-to-i Launches Thai Boxing Experience
i-to-i, the meaningful travel expert, is offering sporty souls the chance to experience a completely different side of Thai island life with the launch of a hard hitting new project which explores the ancient art of Muay Thai.
Often described as "The Science of Eight Limbs" because of its use of the hands, shins, elbows, and knees, Muay Thai or Thai boxing, has seen its popularity boom as it has transformed itself from the national sport of Thailand, into a martial art now practised throughout the world. As well as being a hugely competitive sport, it has a fascinating spiritual aspect due to its roots in Buddhist Thailand, making the region the ultimate place to explore and learn this ancient art.
Based on the tropical island of Koh Tao off the southern coast of Thailand, students on this unique experience will spend up to six hours a day in intensive training with local professional instructors and fighters studying all aspects of the sport from technique and skills, through to spirituality and control. By the end of their time they will have their fighting skills put to the test, as they are given the chance to go head-to-head with their fellow fighters and take their position in the ring.
Koh Tao is regarded as one of Thailand's best kept secrets boasting stunning sites, white sandy beaches, lush jungle and world class diving opportunities. It not only provides a picture perfect back drop for training but also boasts plenty of exotic extra curricular options for any rare spare time.
Bruce Haxton, head of operations for i-to-i comments, “Thailand is an incredible country and a long time favourite with our travellers so we are extremely excited to be able to offer them the chance to see a totally new side. Training alongside professional Thai boxers in such a fantastic setting is one of those rare cultural experiences and will certainly send people home with some great travellers’ tales.”
The project runs from 2 – 12 weeks and costs from £845*. Monthly departures are available. To learn more or to find out about other travel options available through i-to-i, please call 1-800-352-1793 or visit www.i-to-i.com.
