GET AHEAD, GET A GAP!
CV Boosting Placements for Gappers
With so many young people now holding a university degree or a clutch of top grade A-levels, today’s employers are starting to demand more. While a year spent travelling is great for personal development, actual hands-on work experience gives potential candidates transferable skills and allows them to hit the ground running.
With that in mind, leading meaningful travel provider i-to-i is offering this year’s gappers the opportunity to combine both travel and valuable work experience, with a string of internships overseas which will help them stand out from the crowd. From media and marketing through to health work, here are just a few of the rewarding opportunities available through i-to-i this summer:
Journalistic experience in Kabale, Uganda
Located in the mountainous Kabale District, Kabale town is known as a gateway to the national parks, home to the endangered Mountain Gorilla. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a unique experience in journalism whilst exploring a fascinating country. From £895 (4-12 week placements available)
Marketing work experience in Accra, Ghana Be at the front of a fast-paced creative industry in Accra, a multi-cultural city of inspiration. A local advertising agency needs dedicated volunteers who want to share skills, as well as gain first-rate experience. Join a young staff of 20, carrying out advertising and other marketing services such as PR, communications and market research. From £1195 (4-12 week placements available)
Sports Development in Swaziland
The landlocked Kingdom of Swaziland, Africa's last remaining absolute monarchy, is a beautiful country best known for its game parks and nature reserves. Here you will work with children and young adults to encourage participation in sports such as football, volleyball and netball. In this region where the drop-out rate from school is high due to poverty, you can help to involve disadvantaged people in stimulating activities, giving them a new focus in life.
From £1295 (4-8 week placements available)
Health work experience in Quito, Ecuador
Gain health work experience in Quito at a not-for-profit relief agency that helps children in the poorest areas of the city.
