    Hi sallyAust

I was in Moshi for 1 week. I had to leave for a family emergency and am returning in January. I would suggest packing light clothes (something thin and that dries fast). It is HOT there right now and it's nice to have clothes that will dry fast when you sweat. Do you know where your placement is? If so maybe I can make some suggestions on what to bring. It is very cheap to buy stuff when you are over there so I would suggest not bringing tons of paper, etc because it can be bought there for a good price.

I would also suggest bringing any kind of food you may be craving while you are in Tanzania. Even though water and Coke is cheap ... chocolate bars from the store are overpriced. I would suggest bringing books to read during downtime. One of the voulnteer houses has a DVD player so you can also bring a few movies if you want to watch some. Some movies are there already.

Hmmm...what else to bring. Laundry detergent (unless u want to buy it there... I will bring a small amount to get me started)...Little things to give the children when you fee like giving them something. This can be pencils, a piece of gum, mini chocolate bar...anyhting really that you can think of.

You're going to have a great time. The people are amazing...the staff at the house are welcoming and soooo nice. Any other questions you can email me at jilly_h@hotmail.com

When are you going there? I may see you there??

went to moshi last feb- great place but watch out for ait safari rows- they dont like you going with other companies which are cheaper- also if donating money - buy things yourself as local staff inflate prices - do take mosquito nets- ones at house had holes in them. cheers chris
