DVDS SHOW HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF A GAP YEAR
i-to-i Offers Pre and Post-Travel Training DVDs
Meaningful travel specialist i-to-i is giving students a helping hand to get the most from a gap year with a special training DVD package, given FREE to all travellers under age 24.
The new travel tool includes a pre-departure DVD – Before You Go - which is aimed at preparing travellers for their time overseas and a return-home DVD – Returning Home - advising people on how best to ‘sell’ their travel experiences to prospective employers or universities. The DVD’s can be combined with any one of i-to-i’s 500 volunteer ventures in a choice of over 30 countries.
The pre-departure DVD features guidance on what to pack, medical advice, visas and documents, getting abroad, what to expect, culture shock and personal safety as well as tips from university admissions tutors on how to plan a trip that will boost your university career.
The post-travel DVD includes advice on adjusting to culture shock on your return, medical issues and how to ‘sell’ your experience in an interview or on a UCAS form. It also features comments from careers advisors and top employers as well as sample CVs.
Complementing the DVD package is a range of volunteer ventures which offer accommodation in special student houses to enable young travellers to live and share their experiences with people of their own age. The houses are available in eight countries: The Dominican Republic, Ghana, Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, India and China.
i-to-i founder Deirdre Bounds says: “It’s widely know that most employers and universities look for more than just academic qualifications, so we wanted to provide young people with all the help they would need to use their travel experiences to help them in later life – either to land a job or to get a place on a course.
“The pre-departure DVD offers advice on what to do to get the most from your travels, while the return DVD gives practical information on how to make use of your experiences far beyond the flight home. All in all the package offers a complete gap experience from start to finish.”
