So! Am finally here on Kilimanjaro, my i-to-i project doesn't start for another two weeks but I'm here visiting a friend at her AMAZING house on Kilimanjaro- from here I can see the snowy peak, mount Meru and wide open plains. So far I've discovered that it's true what they say about Tanzanian people- they really are incredibly friendly- especially when my flight got in early so I had a while to wait for my friend on my own... I've also found that it gets colder at night than I'd expected, I wish I'd packed another sweatshirt because I think the one I've got with me is going to get a bit worn out after 7 weeks! It is also a sad fact that suncream reacts with insect repellant to make both of them peel off (nice...) which means I'm having to make a choice between the two all the time :-( Oh, and perhaps the most important lesson of all, never sit under an avocado tree if it's windy... Ouch....
The weather is fantastic- hot hot hot in the mornings and then a refreshing storm or two in the afternoon (it is the rainy season after all!). I hear Moshi's really hot so I'm quite pleased i get to acclimatize a bit before I start my project on the 3rd April. Plus I get to (at least try) to learn some swahili while I'm up here on the mountain!
Anyway! I'm really looking forward to starting my project- so to those of you also arriving in Moshi on the 3rd:- I'll see you there :-) And everyone else- Kili really REALLy is worth a trip!!!!
