i worked at universal childrens center in jomvu,if you get cance to visit please do.
you'll be pleased to know that all the children at new hope are amazing,i visited a few times and we held a football tournament, which gave me chance to really get to know them, theyr'e lovely especially Peter :)

thankyou for the ideas corin< if all goes well ill be in mombasa at the same time as you, so ill have to come see you and see how its going for you, i wont be in the volunteer house unfortunately but ill be just round the corner as my friend rachel will be :D you'll meet her almost straight away i should think!

Tuskys is the only place you can buy your repelant from, which is the closest supermarket to the house, but its too expensive! take what you can but there will probably be leftover things in the house for you to use as evryone has way too much, make sure you take good sun screen though, thats really expensive too

Hi! I am going to Mombasa in May for 12 weeks at the New Hope Children's Home (i'm so excited!) and have done lots of fundraising to cover the placement cost, hope some of these help!-
*held a cake sale at college and got all my friends to bake too, raised £150
*held a Music, Curry and Quiz Night at my church and raised about £800 from the huuuge raffle, £5 ticket cost and donations
*held a clothes swap with my friends and raised about £70
and am writing to all my local charity organisations and old schools for help too!
When did you go to Mombasa? I'm just preparing for my trip at the moment - can you buy strong mosquito repellants in the city or are they really expensive tourist prices? Have bought a fair bit already but i'm sure i'm going to run out! What project did you do? xxx
