About Me

Hey there! My name is Olesya. Finding this site was a complete fluke. The more I peek around it the more excited I get about all these people that have the same passion as me for travelling. Sometimes it feels like an itch to just go someplace different that has so much of the unknown to offer. That wanderlust...
Maybe I'll just say a bit about myself here. I have an art history degree, so one of the main interests in travel I have is to be able to see firsthand the history of the places and the people and all that amazing glorious art. Interests in film, illustration and the visuals. I was born in Surgut, a city in Siberia, but have for half of my life lived in Lviv, Ukraine. Since then I've moved around and ended up here in Edmonton, Canada. Not the most exciting of places! I've lived in London for a bit and while country hopping my way over to Canada as a kid have been in Poland for a brief bit of time as well. During my 11 years or so in Canada, I haven't been outside it too much except for a touristy trip to Puerto Vallarta with the family. Then there was wonderful New York last September. I've seen a few of the provinces, the visit to the city of Montreal probably being my favourite. I managed to get out of the country 2 summers back and spend a bit of time in and around Amsterdam, which was a terrific trip. From Holland I continued on solo to visit my homecountries and reconnect with family. Spent too many hours in airports and trains and got to see what those parts of Europe are like from the perspective of a grownup. That was quite a strange and amazing experience.
Now there is nothing I'd love more than to see other corners of the world. I want to go back to England and then see Ireland, Germany, France and so many more. Thailand, Japan, Australia and all the rest are also of great interest to me. I want to soak up all the cultures like a great big sponge. I want to experience the amazing traditions and the changes in perspectives that come with travel. I just want, want, want to do so much more. So much to see so little time it seems. And the funds. A current pipedream of mine is sneaking away to Italy and Spain. It's in the works...
