The countdown has begun! 45 days to go and I'll be in India :-)
Here is my itinerary:
I start in Mumbai, where I will spent two days checking out the sights and sites
Then I head to Varanasi, a place that has fascinated me for a long time. I will be there for three days
Then I head, by overnight train, to Jaipur, where I will be working for 2 weeks with an animal welfare organisation, mainly focusing on improving the lives of street animals such as dogs, cows and elephants
Next, I head to Goa, where I will work for a month at a wildlife sanctuary, conducting species surveys, taking photos and doing site maintenance and protection. I'll be observing leopards, mongooses, elephants, deer, snakes and many other animals in the wild!
Last, I head to Kerala, where I will spend 4 days on a safari in Periyar Tiger Reserve. The last few days I will spend relaxing and getting massages, preparing for my return home :-)

hey nikkisavv! yeah i'm doing the i-to-i elephant project. my visa arrived in the mail today so i'm officially allowing myself to get excited seeing as i can enter the country now!
Thanks for the recommendation Nikkisavv, I've not come across that one - will check it out.
The issues are all part of the experience though, the whole thing is not to be missed!
hey lo-lo! ive heard that from a few ppl actually - the love/hate thing :-) i thought it was really well encapsulated in sarah mcdonald's book 'holy cow' - dunno if you've read it? it kinda simultaneously really made me wanna go and put me off!!
hey caseylb - i'm the same, really wanna start packing now! are you doing the i-to-i elephant project?
mel - i'll fill you in on my experiences, will probably blog on here i reckon :-)
Sounds awesome!
I went to India this year, but just to the south round Bangalore because it was part of a world trip. It's a great country, but mad too - it's the only place I've been that I can say I love and hate in equal measure - normally I love everywhere!
How exciting- your itinery looks awesome! I'm off to Jaipur in 36 sleeps (not that I'm counting...) for two weeks to work with Elephants so we might just cross over. Hope you have a fantastic trip, I can't wait to start packing so it feels real! =)
Hi Nikki,
I'd love to hear how you go. I am going to India next year and I would love to hear all about your experience. The wait was must be awful!
