Ah, our places don't match! :( I'm working at the Cottolengo Special School, near Fort Cochin... I think!! But I'm sure the places must be near.
I finish on the 15th August as well, so tempted to find a nice hotel for the final night! Looking at hotels in Mumbai, turns out they're about £180 for a night, so maybe not!
When you flying back? Do you go via Mumbai on your way home? I'm arrive in Mumbai Sunday evening and don't fly out to the UK until Monday lunchtime...
Just seen your post about working in Kerala this August... I'm going myself on the 17th July until 15th August. Are you going to Kochi to work at the Cottolengo Special School by any chance??
I'm starting to get a bit scared now... I've never travelled that far on my own before!! But I'm sure it'll be an amazing month! :)
Hi Nicky,
Don't worry about having a panic . . . I've done exactly the same thing today. Now that I've booked the project and the flights, I'm having a wobble - was on the phone to my mate saying "why am I doing this - I'm so scared of travelling on my own!". But he told me what I tell other people, focus on all the good reasons you've chosen to go - by all means be aware of the the potential negatives (best to be prepared eh?!) but don't dwell on them! Whilst I love being in my 40's, sometimes I do wish I had the fearlessness of a 20-something!
Its fantastic that you're doing something for you - not enough people take time out to do something solely for them. I reckon this is especially true for single parents. Just think what a fantastic role model you'll be for your kids - doing something wonderful and courageous.
Keep in touch as you get ready to go. It'll be great to swap stories on preparations and also what we achieve when we get there.
