A lady in New Zealand has confessed to her love of volunteering abroad and continues to do it when she can, it has been reported.
Mary Morwood, a 69-year-old physiotherapist from New Zealand, has participated in several volunteering abroad projects and is still as enthusiastic as ever, reported the Allied Press.
Some of the volunteering abroad projects she has been involved in include assisting torture victims in Sri Lanka and helping Tibetan refugees.
She has also volunteered abroad in a poor rural community in Mthatha, South Africa.
"It’s time out of your comfort zone. You learn a lot about people and challenge your own prejudices."
Ms Morwood revealed that he daughters think she is "a bit crazy", though she feels that her work benefits both herself and the people she helps.
The New York Times this week urged people of all ages to bear in mind that gap years are not just for students and the young, but can provide some much-needed perspective for people of all ages.
