The hospitality that awaits travellers on a gap year in Thailand adds another attractive dimension to their trips.
This is the viewpoint of Joanna Cooke, the UK and Ireland marketing manager for the Tourism Authority of Thailand, who said that visitors are sure to encounter friendliness and a good welcome on their travels.
She added that people volunteering abroad or taking gap years in Thailand often extend their trips as they are having such a good time.
"They originally plan to stay for three weeks and they double it to six once they realise there are a lot more places to visit, lots of different beaches on the islands," Ms Cooke explained.
Overall, 2009 saw over 700,000 travellers visit Thailand from the UK, preliminary figures from the tourist authority show.
