Volunteer abroad in Ghana and discover "warm, welcoming people" A young female traveller has highlighted her best and worst holiday experiences and recalls that Ghana sticks out in her mind at the top of the scale.

Visiting the region to see the place where her parents were born, Rosaline Roberts writes in the Daily Mail that she discovered the "charm, breathtaking beauty and heritage" that the popular Gap year destination Ghana had to offer.

"There are too many highlights to mention them all but I particularly loved the natural wonder of Kakum National Park [where] I walked across a 350-metre long, 40-metre high canopy bridge," Ms Roberts recalls.

Overall, she describes the country as a "diverse" place, being home to both modern, bustling cities and serene villages, something those considering a gap year in Ghana may be encouraged to hear.

Another individual to have been smitten by the area is Nicky Bennett, a student nurse from Stratford who told the Coventry Telegraph recently that volunteering abroad in Ghana was "fantastic" and something everyone should try.
