Gap year travellers heading on an Asian tour later this year may want to head to Vietnam.
The country has announced that it will waive the visa fees of all foreign tourists who arrive there in August and September, Thanhnien News reports.
It is seeking to attract visitors as part of a national shopping promotion programme entitled the Impressive Vietnam Grand Sale 2010.
The governmental scheme will allow travellers to claim refunds on VAT when they purchase goods within this time frame.
A number of shops and service providers in Da Ning, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi will also be taking part in the initiative by offering discounts of up to 40 per cent on the products they sell.
