Travellers urged to plan for spending money

Travellers urged to plan for spending money Budgeting advice is something all gap year travellers need and now one travel expert has listed his top tips for keeping costs down.

The first step is to decide where holiday money is going to be spent and to make a list factoring all expenses, said Bob Atkinson of Travelsupermarket.com.

He recommended considering the price of accommodation, food, excursions and activities and everyday purchases when making a spending plan.

Mr Atkinson added: “The best thing to do is to check with review sites as to what are expensive destinations in Spain, what are cheap destinations, how far does your pound go, that kind of thing.

”Use guidebooks and website reviews, they do that kind of thing quite well … [and] always have a backup – so that if you do then have to spend additional money then you have another way of doing that."

Earlier this week, a report from TravelSpec found that a large proportion of Britons spend far more than they have budgeted for when they go away.ADNFCR-1944-ID-19931350-ADNFCR
