The summer is almost over in the UK – but those who want to enjoy some hotter climes this year could head into the sun with i-to-i’s new volunteering abroad in South Africa project.
Staying and lending a helping hand at a wildlife reserve, the trip incorporates rewarding work with spotting breathtaking creatures such as lions, elephants, rhinos and leopards.
There will also be the opportunity to put in some hours at a rehabilitation centre, getting up close with animals that need a little extra care.
Based in the country’s Eastern Cape, those who opt for the adventure will also be able to enjoy the stunning landscapes of places such as Port Elizabeth, Jeffrey’s Bay or bustling Grahamstown.
The project lasts for one week but can be extended for up to six.
Those who do opt for this volunteering abroad in South Africa project may be lucky enough to glimpse some of the work going on in the area in preparation for next year’s World Cup tournament.
