This year could be ideal to pay a visit to India, one travel industry insider has recommended.
The city of Delhi has been featured in British Airways’ list of top places to travel this year and is a great option for gap year travellers for a variety of reasons.
According to the company, increasing interest has been registered in tiger safaris in and around the city, with people eager to get a glimpse of the impressive creatures.
These excursions can be accessed at lesser-visited places such as the Bandhavgarh Wildlife Sanctuary and Kanha National Park, it added, and provide a great excuse for visitors to get off the beaten track.
Other events set to take place in 2010 also make the city an attractive prospect, said Judy Jarvis, British Airways’ regional commercial manager.
"There has never been a better time to visit India. [This] year marks two special occasions – 80 years of British Airways flying to India and the first time Delhi will host the Commonwealth Games," she explained.
Travel guide publisher Dorling Kindersley also placed Delhi on its list of top places to visit in 2010, the Times reported.
