Taking a TEFL course and teaching English abroad can equip an individual with the skills they need for the hard-headed world of work.
This is according to TEFL course and gap year specialist i-to-i, which has highlighted that many of the skills people develop while teaching English abroad are interchangeable with those needed for the workplace.
It explained that "teaching English as a foreign language [is] an astute career move for those having difficulties finding work in today’s highly competitive jobs market".
A survey conducted recently by Graduate Recruiters found that 55 per cent of graduates lack skills such as the ability to communicate effectively and take the helm.
Maybe those who take a TEFL course and teach English abroad will be able to prove the viewpoint of Sir Stuart Rose wrong in the future.
The Marks and Spencer chairman said this week that many youngsters are ill-prepared to enter the workplace, lacking even basic abilities such as turning up on time and communicating effectively.
