Whenever gap year travellers go on safari in Africa they are sure to see a wide variety of animals.
But those who are hoping to catch a glimpse of baby elephants, lions and buffalo should head to the continent in the spring.
In an article for the Irish Times, travel writer Cathy O’Clery said August to November is the best time to spot newborns.
She advised travellers to draw up a list of the animals they most want to see during their time on safari and not to be too disheartened if they don’t come across a particular species.
“It took me two years and six or seven visits to various game reserves to see my first leopard while some friends saw one within five minutes of their first game drive,” Ms O’Clery explained.
Angie Sloan, regional director for the Kenya Tourist Board, said recently that Kenya’s safari offerings are second to none.
“It has been confirmed that when the word safari is mentioned people think primarily of ”http://www.I-to-I.com/kenya.html">Kenya," she remarked.
