Gap year travellers heading to Australia should make time to soak up the sun on Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach.
Travel writer Sandra O’Connell told the Irish Times that this particular beach is a way of life for those living in the city.
"During daylight hours the place is the epitome of health and fitness with fanatics jogging and walking along its shore," she remarked.
There is also plenty of surfing action on Bondi Beach, and although it is not the best place for beginners to learn, Ms O’Connell said spectators can have great fun watching the experts practice their skills.
"A big part of its allure is the buzzing cafes and bar scene – great for people watching," she added.
The writer also recommended taking the cliff walk from Bondi to Bronte Beach for great scenery and a real sense of Sydney’s rich history.
Bondi Beach is around one kilometre (0.62 miles) in length and is located to the east of Sydney’s central business district.
