Students who miss out on a university place this year are being encouraged to consider a gap year in New Zealand instead.
Immigration New Zealand claims that a Working Holiday Visa (WHV) in the country can be a good choice for those not heading into further education this year.
It explains that with a WHV, students aged between 18 and 30 can work in the nation for up to 23 months in a range of sectors – and adds that this type of year out is ideal for those planning their travels at the last minute.
This is because it removes some of the financial pressure, Immigration New Zealand claims.
Regional manager for the organisation Ross Grigg comments: "Even though jobs undertaken on the Working Holiday Visa are temporary, they can help develop important skills and experience for future jobs."
Recently UK and Northern Europe general manager at Tourism Australia Rodney Harrex also highlighted the benefits of a WHV, claiming that there is a healthy jobs market down under for students to take advantage of.
