Those taking a gap year or volunteering abroad in South Africa next year will find great experience lying ahead of them.
This is according to British Airways (BA), which has published its list of top places to go in 2010.
Cape Town has been highlighted as the number one destination for a gap year in 2010, as the airline points out that around 500,000 people are expected to descend on the region to soak up the atmosphere of the World Cup tournament.
It also highlighted attractions such as the area’s beaches, mountains and vineyards as being particularly appealing to visitors.
Sue Botes, British Airways’ commercial manager for South Africa, explained: "Cape Town has always been a popular destination, we expect the World Cup to push it to the top of the long-haul league table as the best place to be in 2010."
Meanwhile, those who want to enjoy the buzz of the World Cup in its host location next year could opt to travel there with gap year specialist i-to-i.
By participating in the firm’s project, individuals could get to help disadvantaged children and give something back to the country while travelling.
