A Scottish adventurer has broken a world record after cycling solo from Alaska to the bottom of Argentina, it has emerged.
Beating the previous world record of 140 days, 24-year-old Scott Napier cycled 13,500 miles in 126 days and took in 13 countries along the way.
Starting at Prudhoe Bay in Alaska on June 22nd, the adventurous youth gave something for those on gap years in South America to be in awe of by finishing up in Ushuaia, Argentina on October 25th.
"Sleeping under the stars in the Atacama Desert in Chile was an amazing experience," Mr Napier told the BBC.
He continued: "Speaking no Spanish in Central and South America was difficult, but lots of the local people were really helpful."
In other bicycle-related travel news this week, Geoffrey Williams, a British man who has proudly travelled through Europe on the back of his favourite bike since the 80s, found that his prized cycle had been stolen from his back garden in Southampton.
