Pleasing employers, making a difference and having fun: The benefits of volunteering abroad Now could be the perfect time for those worried about their university applications to consider taking some time out to volunteer abroad.

This is according to operations director at i-to-i Bruce Haxton, who stated that taking time out between school or college and higher education can have a number of benefits.

Aside from having a great time, exploring new surroundings and giving something back to local communities, volunteering abroad equips participants with extra strings to add to their bows.

Mr Haxton added that volunteering abroad is "a great opportunity for young people to make a difference to their own lives and the lives of others, boosting future university and job applications in the process".

One place where youngsters may like to head this year is South America, specifically the vibrant Brazilian city of Rio, according to MSN.

The news provider outlined the metropolis as a hub of fun, excitement and partying and specialist companies, such as i-to-i, run a wide range of projects in and around the area. ADNFCR-1944-ID-19603027-ADNFCR
