Sydney’s Darling Harbour is coming of age with a spectacular event and is inviting gap year travellers, those volunteering abroad in Australia and holidaymakers visiting the region to help it celebrate its 21st birthday in style on May 3rd.
The details of the biggest party of 2009 have been revealed and on the bill are more than 200 of the country’s most talented artists, 11 bands and a host of multicultural performers.
Gap year travellers in Australia should clear their diaries and get to the harbour for 11am when the festivities begin with a carnival at Tumbalong Park, followed by Aquashell performances from 2pm and the Cockle Bay Carnivale Parade at 5:45pm.
Finishing off the impressive day will be Japanese drumming masters TaikOz against a background of coordinated fireworks.
Those gap year travellers who plan to enjoy Australia for a little longer may like to head to Queensland’s Fraser Coast this August to witness humpback whales and their new calves enjoying the warm waters.
