Online learning turns tiny town into “teaching hub”

E-learning has turned a small town in Wyoming into an English "teaching hub", is has been reported.

Writing for the Associated Press, Mead Gruver explains a high-tech company – Eleutian Technology – hires people across the north part of the western US state to teach English to Koreans of all ages using free telecommunication software Skype.

In news which may inspire those eager to teach English, the news provider explains the firm has almost 300 teachers connected to more than 15,000 students in Korea, with chief executive officer Kent Holiday explaining there is room for expansion.

Founded in 2003, Skype is available in 28 different languages.

Jon Benson, chief executive officer of the University of Wyoming’s Technology Business Centre, told the news provider: "Broadband connectivity really has allowed people to do high-tech businesses from remote areas."
