The chance to get up close with some of the region’s most vulnerable wildlife has presented itself with i-to-i’s new hands-on volunteering abroad in South Africa project.
Those adventurous gap year travellers who opt for this new £695 trip will spend from one to eight weeks living on-site at a wildlife park near to the sunny and idyllic Port Elizabeth.
There, they will get the chance to nurse and mingle with cheetahs, the world’s fastest land animal, as well as servals, a type of wild cat. They can also help with the building of their new enclosures.
With the location also being close to one of the world’s premier surfing hotspots, Jeffreys Bay, volunteers may find themselves in the company of like-minded people who are out to enjoy the sand and the surf.
So, for those who want the chance to care for vulnerable animals, dive into clear waters, lounge on sunny beaches and make new friends at social gatherings and barbecues, this new project is ideal.
