North Brazil ‘packed with attractions’

Posted 14 Jul 2011

North Brazil ''packed with attractions'' North Brazil is a destination packed with beautiful states and an impressive coastline, according to one expert.

Products and destinations director at Embratur, the Brazilian tourist board, Marco Lomanto claims that there is much to see in the north of the country, from amazing beaches to the "Venice of Brazil".

Noting that Bahia is often referred to as the "state of happiness", he explains that some of the largest carnivals are held here.

Meanwhile, Recife in Pernambuco is well known for its river and picturesque bridges, which have earned it the title of the Venice of Brazil.

"From vast plains to mountainous highlands, Ceara State is the only place in Brazil where you can be in a rainforest looking out over a desert," Mr Lomanto says, adding that this destination is also good for nightlife.

Gap year travellers keen to explore other Brazilian attractions may enjoy a trip to Rio de Janerio, which Lonely Planet author Kevin Raub recently described as having something for everyone.ADNFCR-1944-ID-800621363-ADNFCR
