Gap year travellers exploring New Zealand will soon have more options when it comes to internal flights.
Air New Zealand it adding an additional 9,500 seats per week to its regional routes, including Tauranga to Christchurch and Invercargill to Wellington.
The increase in capacity will mean flights will depart more frequently, allowing travellers to really make the most of their time in the country.
Tickets for the new flight schedules are on sale now for travel from February next year, so those planning their 2011 gap years could get themselves organised early.
Other domestic routes to benefit from extra capacity are New Plymouth to Christchurch, Palmerston North to Auckland and Napier to Auckland.
Air New Zealand’s internal flights start at £25 per passenger one-way. The airline operates services to 24 domestic destinations, including Hamilton, Nelson, Queenstown and Wanaka.
Earlier this year, the carrier said it was installing new technology on some of its aircraft, allowing passengers to use their mobile phones during flights.
