Gap year travellers who like to get on their bikes may be attracted to New Zealand in the future, with the planned creation of a new cycling path network.
Plans have been unveiled for the establishment of seven projects and their construction could be started as early as this summer, according to the chief executive of the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand Tim Cossar.
He said that the cycling network has received support from local communities and national bodies alike.
The routes take in areas "where cyclists will not only be able to experience some of New Zealands awesome natural scenery but also learn a great deal about our countrys regional history, culture and heritage," he added.
According to a poll undertaken by Natwest International Personal Banking last month, New Zealand is Brits’ number one choice when it comes to which country they would most like to set up home in.
