A range of new gap year options have been offered by TEFL and TESOL course provider i-to-i.
The company states gap years have sometimes been seen as rewards and breaks after 14 years of continuous education.
However, the world of gap years is changing, the organisation explains, noting that graduates are choosing to take time out before joining the world of work and people from all age groups are taking breaks from their careers as wanderlust grows.
As such, i-to-i has announced a range of new gap year options, including an animal rescue programme near Cape Town and community work with children in Ghana.
The organisation has been offering programmes including volunteer vacations, gap years, TEFL course training and job placements abroad since 1994 and sends around 5,000 volunteers to 500 projects in 35 countries every year.
Countries served include New Zealand, Brazil, Costa Rica, Madagascar, Uganda, Malaysia and Zambia.
