The government of Nepal has announced that it will rebuild the home of the former royal family following a massacre in 2001 which saw nine members of the dynasty gunned down.
Since the incident, it has been widely reported that crown prince Dipendra was responsible for the shootings as he entered the private party while intoxicated and took revenge on his family for not approving his choice of bride.
Afterwards, King Gyanendra, who succeeded King Birendra, ordered the house in which it happened to be demolished and now all that remains of the site is a brick wall.
However, that is set to change as the king was ousted last year, bringing an end to the 239-year-old monarchy.
"The Tribhuvan Sadan must be rebuilt. It will be restored to its old position," current prime minister Madhav Kumar stated.
This is not the first time Nepal has been in the news in recent times, as the government revealed last week that it is currently in the process of releasing child soldiers recruited by Maoist rebels during former conflicts.
