Gap year travellers heading to South America might want to take note of some highly complimentary remarks Miranda Richardson has made about Ecuador.
The former Blackadder actress told the Daily Telegraph that she visited the country and the Galapagos on her latest trip and found them to be most enjoyable experiences.
She was particularly enthralled by the "incredible" wildlife on show, having seen sea lions, marine iguanas, frigate and mocking birds.
"Nothing there is fearful, so it’s like being in Eden," Ms Richardson explained, before admitting that it helped her "feel like a child again".
She added that the journey was made all the more pleasant as they travelled on a boat, called the Eclipse, which was only half-full.
Earlier in the week, it was revealed that three lifeguards from the US had helped man some of the beaches in Ecuador while the country staged its annual Carnaval celebrations.
