Those looking to embark on a gap year tour of Australasia can follow in the footsteps of Wayne Sleep and find luxury at an Australian hotel

The dancer has revealed in an interview with the Daily Telegraph that the Palazzo Versace Hotel on Queensland’s Gold Coast is the best accommodation he has ever stayed in.

Sleep stayed in the hotel after leaving the television show I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here a few years ago.

"It was wonderful to sip champagne, enjoy a hot shower and en suite Jacuzzi," he explained.

The performer revealed that his room’s interior was made up of marbled floors, with columns and cushions designed by Versace.

He described the atmosphere as "fabulously private" and sitting around the pool felt "just like" being on a beach.

In 1961, Sleep won a Leverhulme Scholarship to the Royal Ballet School and joined the Royal Ballet Company in 1966.
