Those embarking upon gap year travel are among those who fly to long-haul destinations the most, it has been claimed.
According to Kate Kenward, executive director at the Association of Independent Tour Operators, those taking a gap year travel break are likely to fly to long-haul locations.
Far-flung holidays are also becoming more popular among holidaymakers in general, she added.
"A long-haul holiday is on everybody’s wish list and holidays now are more of a necessity than a luxury," Ms Kenward explained.
Furthermore, they offer something unique and always have a real impact upon travellers, she said.
In related news, Brazil, which is traditionally popular among those taking gap year travel breaks, is set to be a travel hotspot this year, according to BuyAssociation.co.uk’s editor Paul Collins.
